Some Questions About Dating In T&T

Ok, I'm relatively new to Trinbago after having being born and raised in UK and am still learning the culture here.

Now, what is the dating scene like here? and more to the point, would it be frowned upon if a black male (such as myself) sought to date an Indo-Trini female?

when l lived in uk, I often thought the indian girls there were hot but I wouldn't have considered dating one because of cultural differences. most southern asians in the UK are quite conservative since southern Asian societies are conservative.

But in Trinbago, I find there any cultural differences between blacks and Indians are very few. so in that sense could a relationship work?

Thanks! biggrin.gif

This question has been asked before seems to be a popular one. I believe it all has to do with the 'circles' you hang around, the girl and the parents of that girl, generally speaking there will be no shout of displeasure from the general public about you dating a girl of a different race. How good relationship will be is dependent on the two of you.

Thanks for your input! In general, how well do the different races in Trinidad get on?

Generally everyone gets along fine, at least on the surface, but in times of 'close contact' you do find race is often an issue. Have a look at these Threads:

* Syrians and Local Whites
* Thoughts Of A Englishman Back From Trinidad
* Primitive People
* White Foreigners In Trinidad
* Racialism In Trinidad
* Anti-Syrian?
* Do we use the word racism in Trinidad too quick?

I believe you already saw the one on dating at UWI: Source 5

If you make race an issue then it will be an issue so just leave race out of it and ask the ladies out, the most we can tell you is "No!" wink.gif

Thanks! this might sound bad but I find Indian women more attractive than black women so now I know its not a big thing to date outside your race in T&T I think ill pluck up the courage to ask one out.

What makes them more attractive for you? You do know that in the UK Indian women also fall under the title of 'black' right? You should know that if you've lived there most of your life.

I don't know really. Indian women just have features I find more attractive generally. To me having an ethnic preference as to whom one wants to date is no different from a man liking blondes or long hair. It's just a personal preference. why do you ask incidentally?

And in the UK black generally means a person of African origin or descent. We use the term Asian to describe Indians or other southern Asians.
