Super wood could replace steel. Engineers have found a way to make wood more than 10 times stronger and tougher than before, creating a natural substance that is stronger than many titanium alloys. Source 4k.

Steel Stronger Wood

The technique they used to create this 'super wood' is a varied form of nanotechnology compression, forcing the cellulose bonds into very close proximity within the layers, making it basically like watered steel, but at a sub-micro level. Swords made of wood, indeed!

The list of researchers in this project sure show how unbalanced the student population of US universities are. I wonder if any one has done a study on student ethnic and citizenship breakdown?
