I am not saying Dr. Ford is wrong but it really bugs me that after 40+ years someone comes public with something that happened to them and yet have no proof or evidence and suddenly everyone is a believer.

I quite agree that additional proof is needed.
However I am not particularly bothered by the prevailing attitude in this case. Couple of reasons:
Many such women have been coming out recently, and it has been shown that a large majority of such stories with a similar profile to dr. Ford's case are true. (This is not to claim that there are not people lying for the sake of money and fame In this movement. However, their stories tend to have certain characteristics, such as unusual sexual kinks and outlandish abuse)
Doctor Ford's testimony has been thorough and open. Her body language matches the story. Unless she is a very very good actor, it is clear that her story happened. It is also very unlikely that she is mistaken about the identity of those involved.
Kavanaugh's testimony on the other hand, continued to add unnecessary details and avoid important questions. He was angry, belligerent, sullen. His behavior, more resembled a stubborn child who resents having been caught doing something wrong than anything else. It certainly did not resemble the outlook of a man confident in his story. He was even caught making several false statements, mostly concerning the meaning of notes made by him and others relevant to the time period in question. This last tended to be him attempting to write off sexual innuendo and extremely derogatory remarks as being something else.
So no, while proof has not yet been presented, I am inclined to believe the story, and I am not at all surprised that others do the same.
I believe her and thank goodness there are people in the senate that have a heart as well and do not do things solely on party lines.

That's not surprising regardless of the truth. As cases go, this one is very cold. If Ford is telling the truth, pretty much the only way Kavanaugh sees justice is if his old buddies rat him out, and they have no reason to do so.
If Ford is lying, that will also be difficult to prove. If anything has been established about this, its that the memory of Kavanaugh and his buddies during the time period in question is pretty dang well compromised. Almost anything COULD have happened
However, given that Kavanaugh has been caught in multiple lies already (If only concerning relatively minor items), and Ford has yet to be caught lying or dodging questions….

I am interested in the end game with this political Kavanaugh affair. The house still needs to make the final vote. Will everyone follow the senate and vote along party lines again or will there be sensible honest votes about this man as the next member of the highest court in the land.

What I find interesting to me is that many of these cases of women being assaulted or sexually assaulted have happened many years in the past. This one is from 1982 or 36 years ago. Did she make any report back in 1982? And if she did not then why is it a big deal now? Is it because he has been nominated for the US supreme Court? If that is the only reason this is happening then it is not right to do this to someone just like if something did happen in 1982 that is wrong to and something should have been said back then. Digging deep into someone's past when they were in high school or college can find some interesting things about just anyone. Does that give a clear picture of who they are today?
Kn, it is not at all uncommon for such assaults to go unreported at first, more often than not, the victim is too ashamed to tell anyone. In the years since, Ford lived in a society extremely hostile to such claims. She still does in many respects, the idea that a boy's future is more important than any suffering he might have caused to a girl is still depressingly prevalent.
That is slowly changing, but it is only relatively recently that her claim stood any chance of gaining any kind of significant ground. One only needs to look at how the Senate treated Anita Hill sometime for proof of that, and prior to miss Hill, all such claims were simply ignored.
And yes, time was starting to become an issue for Dr Ford. Kavanaugh was about to become one of the most powerful people in the justice system, and in a lifetime position to boot. If she was ever going to speak up, the time was now.
Now the specific timing, just days before confirmation, was suspicious. But from my understanding that wasn't her choice. She sent in a letter a while back, but its recipient sat on it until the most expedient moment.
