Scientists perfect technique to boost capacity of computer storage a thousand-fold. Scientists have created the most dense, solid-state memory in history that could soon exceed the capabilities of current hard drives by 1,000 times. New technique leads to the densest solid-state memory ever created. Source 1i.
The article mentioned real-world applications but did not expound on the cost which I expect would be exorbitant. Aside from being overkill, it is commercially not viable as it effectively offers consumers the only hard drive they will ever need, thus reducing the need for repeat purchases. Until it breaks and the customer needs a replacement, anyway.
