There are some obvious signs with number one being the person is not how they usually are but then again if they are depressed all the time then you will not see the difference. Some people are really good at masking their depression while others are not.
It's really hard to tell with some people. Some have spent years covering it up and acting like everything is okay. An interesting thing here.
It was only a couple of week ago that I realize I could be suffering from depression, at least for the last few months, this realization coming as a shock to me as I had always thought that I had tried keeping up a pretty upbeat attitude… Though looking back, I wish that I had gotten with someone sooner to help me with my own feelings and thoughts. So yes, it isn't always easy to tell admittedly. Even for yourself.
