Teen Violence

Do you remember the good old days when girls were described as "sugar and spice?" Well, that was a long time ago. These days, girls are becoming more and more aggressive and just as violent as boys. In this report, a sixteen year old girl was lured to a Lakeland home and was subjected to violent attacks by six other teenaged girls, who unfortunately, beat the poor victim until she was unconscious. When the sixteen year old woke up, she saw the other teens laughing, continuing to beat her and videotaping the whole incident. Two other teenaged boys, acted as guards, to ensure the teens were not disturbed. Fortunately, all eight teenagers were charged with felony, battery and false imprisonment. Here are more details on this report:

Update: Last week on the headline news, it was reported that the violent teen girls were not taking the charges seriously. One teen inquired if she would be released in time for cheerleading practice the following day. Another teen joked, "I guess we won't be going to the beach this weekend!"

I think this has a lot ot do with the violence people see on TV, Movies and video games. I believe society as a whole is turning into a giant cess pool

I am very curious about what motivated them to attack this poor girl in the first place? I saw part of the "videotaped attack" and it is very disturbing. These girls are just screaming at the victim and cuffing her for no apparent reason. It was reported that the girl is an honour student. I wonder if the other girls were jealous of her? Is it a problem concerning another boy perhaps? Whatever was the reason, it does not justify their violent behaviour. I hope the legal system does not dismiss their actions as just "their first offence" and give them a slap on the wrist. Maybe if these teens were incarcerated for one year, it should force them to realise the seriousness of their actions. This poor girl could have been killed!

I do not think our youth nowadays are getting less violent. I think they are getting more violent. I think they feel they are entitled to this and that and they do not have to respect adults or authorities thus they get more in trouble and they just do not understand there are many consequences to their actions.

It is an entitled generation that we are dealing with. I'm part of that generation and it disturbs me. People think things are owed to them just for breathing. They are narcissistic and cruel. It seems like they don't feel empathy for others. There is just something missing in them.

With having first hand experience with this I wonder what our teachers and parents can do to help make a change with our upcoming youth. One thing I would do is stop the handling out of trophies just because the kid was in a activity. Lets get back to showing our kids that if you strive to be a better person you can be a winner. Lets teach our children that you have to put some effort to achieve things in life. Nothing is just going to be handed to you like parents seem to do now.

I think part of the problem is the usage of technology. Kids are immersed in technology. So many things now are either automated or done online. People are losing the human bond with others. Kids want to live in their own little worlds of their own making.
