I do feel like owning an expensive car would result in people treating you differently. Some would respect you more knowing that you have a lot of money. Others would view you as someone to get to know better in order to possibly get some of that money themselves.

Having a expensive car can be a social status item or someone with a lot of money. It does not always command respect or have people look at you differently. Will people treat you differently? I would say in the most part yes as they either look at you as a fool for spending the money on such a object or as someone they may want to find out where you live to rid you of other items of high value without your knowledge.
