Mysterious Person at the Tavern
"I have but a minute to speak." The stranger at first looked familiar but the voice was one I didn't recognize. A younger person's face showed through some evidence of a rough life. A scar along the hairline and what may have been a burn across the jaw bone.
Gripping to the side of the table as if slipping off the seat and under the table might happen due their short stature, the person continued, "Tell me, what has been your most important lesson since coming to The Town?"
I thought about the question for only a moment and exclaimed, "That's easy. Knowing thyself and thy capabilities. Rushing in where only fools may tread without proper knowledge of the situation."
"I see." said the stranger. "You were told this from the start but have taken this long to understand it?"
I looked down and pushed at a loose splinter on the table. "I suppose only the very wise can learn a lesson by listening, the rest of us will learn by trial and error."
The stranger leaned in and green eyes pierced at me from across the table.
"I do not decide whether or not your story holds merit, but I will pass it along to my employer."
In a flash, the stranger got up from the table and made way for the door and was gone. I was a bit startled from their hast and realized I had gotten the splinter in my thumb.
I shook my head and raised a hand to get a mead. "Your lessons just keep on coming… Oh,wench!"
First time in the Town
First time in the Town, I must say I enjoy the Tavern feasts. Loud patrons are almost always blurting out some boast of their achievements. After a week or so of struggling I am learning the ins and outs of the town. There are ways for a low class individual to cope with the hardships of living. Everyday I awaken with a sense of wonderment in what I will discover next.

I now have hope that I can sustain myself and grow steadily. I have purchased a home and am quite please with it's benefits. Am working on my soul and body presently. My past failures have left them diminished. Am also gaining in my abilities as a barber. It may not seem like a grand job but I have learned much from the jailer in which I am employed.Be well my friend.
Elgin was a good man. He only wanted to help make the world a better place. I will always remember his laugh and his dumb jokes. His fate was sealed by his impatience to learn the most basic rules to survival. Although he has passed on, I believe his spirit will remain to perhaps guide others in the path to be the Ruler Of Kings. Goodbye Elgin, you will always hold a special place in our hearts.
We rest Elgin the Emissary to share wisdom from antiquity:
