Police: Syracuse basketball coach Jim Boeheim hits, kills pedestrian walking along highway. Syracuse police say that Boeheim drove by and struck the 51-year-old pedestrian while trying to avoid the vehicle after the pedestrian got out of the car following a crash. Boeheim is cooperating with the investigation and police say there was no sign that Boeheim was impaired. Boeheim has been the head coach at Syracuse since 1976 and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2005. Source 5l
