Opioid Epidemic

60 physicians and pharmacists in 5 states charged in opioid bust. Federal prosecutors charged 60 physicians and pharmacists in Alabama, Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee and West Virginia with illegally handing out 350,000 opioid prescriptions, totaling more than 32 million pills. Federal prosecutors say it is the biggest crackdown of its kind in U.S. History. Source 6e.

It doesn't surprise me that doctors and pharmacists are also pushing the use of these drugs because there is lots of money to be made.
