Stonewall at 50: We owe Pride to black trans women who threw bricks at cops, from USA TODAY Opinion
When police raided New York's Stonewall Inn 50 years ago, LGBTQ patrons fought back. Those riots are credited with sparking the gay rights movement, but activists say they were "Whitewashed" for decades. Now, as black trans women are being murdered at alarming rates, Marsha P. Johnson and others are finally getting credit for their role at Stonewall and in the movement. Source 6b.
