Enslaved kangaroo meets tragic death in Trinidad. Trinis devour animals of all sorts everyday but when a kangaroo allegedly dies because of fireworks (A whole other issue) they suddenly take notice. When will we accept all animals as cohabitants of this planet and stop treating them as slaves? Kangaroos aren't native to this country and should be free to roam their OWN habitat in freedom. Trinidad Death Kangaroo

Yes this is part of the "Taker" philosophy as was described in Daniel Quinn's "Ishmael" book. Whatever one thinks of the book itself, I think the core principle is right. Human Western civilization is acting out the myth that the world was made for humans and that humans were made to rule it. This is not a scientific principle… we are not good at ruling the earth and acting like we are is causing large amounts of physical harm, as well as psychological trauma for ourselves. An alternative story is needed… that humans were made to be a part of the world. This is not new, just something all people once believed but that we have forgotten. It will realign our relationship with other organisms, with each other, with our food supply, with our ecosystems. It won't make us noble or good, but it will make us less self-destructive and less exhausted and disconnected.
