Apparently, there is a new 'version' of Superman coming up called "Crisis on Infinite Earths" and the WB producers wanted to cross over the old Smallville cast to introduce the new ones. Tom Welling, the Superman of the TV Series "Smallville", is set to play Clarke Kent. When fans caught wind of this they immediately thought of their old favorite, Lex Luthor played by Michael Rosenbaum. So far, it does not look like Michael Rosenbaum will play that role due to a tweet he sent out:
Crisis On Infinite Earths (Hover)
Warner Bros did call Michael Rosenbaum and he refused. He tweeted sometime ago that they could not tell him or send him the script, they couldn't tell him what he was doing in the show nor when he was shooting. Basically according to him, no money and told him they need to know "Now". So he passed the offer.
This is so frustrating. I mean sure, directors want to be careful of leaks making to the public, but I feel an actor should still have a right to know what they are getting into and yes have a chance of looking at the script. More, the fact they wouldn't even give Michael Rosenbaum any time to consider the offer, needing an answer "Know" and seemingly without much paying? Of course he refused.
Honestly, how could any director or company expect an actor or actress to agree to a role with no script, any idea what they were doing or where they'd be shooting, and basically no money.
Especially since if an actor or actress did agree, I believe that they'd be bound to sticking with the role and the script given right? Even if the location wouldn't work for whatever reason, the script is bad, or they didn't like their role. Honestly, in my opinion, this is especially disappointing,. As I feel Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum worked really well together in their roles as Clark Kent and Lex Luther in Smallville.
