Markus the Barbarian

Markus, the name of warriors where I'm from. It's a village far east, away from the reaches of mankind. It's a common name, given to men who come from a fighting lineage and I intend to bring it honor.

I stand at 6'3" tall with a muscular, yet agile frame. I have dark hair that comes down to my shoulders and my skin is slightly darker than most men to the west. My skin is weathered and has many markings from previous village hunting games that I've participated in.

I've been trained to fight since I was a child and I'm extremely skilled in using a sword, especially for my age. I want to travel the world and use my skill as a fighter to become ruler of my own kingdom.

Although, Herald was never much of a fighter within the village, what he lacked in skill was made up in intellect. His family had always been close to Markus's family and would often share resources. Herald's family was known for their brains and Markus's family was known for their brawn within the village. This alliance proved fruitful to both families since one always relied on the other's forte. Even though Markus comes from a different school of thought, they developed a friendship that was quite unorthodox in the village. Most fighters did not fraternize with scholars and vice versa; it was taboo within their community. However, both families were talented and respected enough within their realm of expertise that it was forgiven by the local elders.

The day Markus left was the day Herald knew his calling to this world. It was an opportunity to travel the world. With his parent's blessing, Hearld set forth to follow Markus on this perilous adventure.

Markus was not as surprised to see Herald. Since they were children, Herald was always snooping around Markus's affairs; he'd almost expected it.
