Philippines: Soldiers Killed By Local Police

Four soldiers, an army major, captain, sergeant and a corporal were gunned down by local police in Jolo, Sulu, Philippines. Initial reports by the police said that the soldiers in a SUV were hailed in a checkpoint and were asked to proceed to the local police station for verification of identity. But the SUV went straight ahead and were chased by the police were a shoot out followed leading to the death of the four soldiers. According to them, it was self defense.
CCTV footage of the incident surfaced a few days later showing that the SUV was being chased by the police mobile then the next scene shown were the bodies of three dead soldiers laying on the pavement. No weapons or guns were seen in the footage. The chief of police recanted their version and said it was a misencounter while the head of the army cried rub out. Investigation is still on going. It just makes me wonder if those police could just shoot the soldiers in cold blood, even knowing their identity, what more for ordinary citizens like me.
