Basic Beliefs Of Islam - Probably one of the most misunderstood religions in the world today largely due to the events of September 11th, but hopefully we can research the truth about Islam here. If you have ever wanted to ask question or were thinking about converting to Islam then ask within this Thread.

More on Islam?

I am not an expert of Islam. Those who are Muslim or have studied the religion in depth can help others who are interested in the religion or becoming part of it.

I have found a very comprehensive site on Islam Source 2

It goes through the most common questions anyone would have, especially after Sept. 11th.

Sometimes I think those who crave war forget that there are people in the Middle East just like you and me... They want success in life they want to go out to work and study and return home in peace.

For God and Country Khaled Al-Maeena

I was praying Salat Al-Maghrib (Dusk prayers) at a mosque last Wednesday and next to me was a young man in his late teens. When prayer was over he relaxed, raised his hands and offered dua.

For quite some time he remained still like that. When he finished, I asked him what he had prayed for. Ref. Source

Report: Anti-Muslim Violence on Rise in U.S.
(WASHINGTON, D.C., 7/15/03) - A report released today by a prominent national Islamic civil rights and advocacy group indicates that anti-Muslim incidents in the United States increased by 15 percent over the previous year. (Numbers rose from 525 confirmed incidents in the 2002 report to 602 in this year's study.) The Council on American-Islamic Relations' (CAIR) report - the only annual study of its kind - details incidents and experiences of anti-Muslim violence, discrimination and harassment during the past year.

Islam Bashing Enough Is Enough
Presentation of Muslims & Islam was a usual pass time at Hollywood for decades. Only interrupted by the 'commies' or the 'Russians.' It is a necessity to show the evil and bad contrasted with the good. In cases of entertainment, a hero is supposed to be just that someone who triumphs over evil. However, such images do have a lasting impact beyond and outside of movie theatres. It has been nearly two years since the tragic events of 9/11. Since then we have learned a great deal on what happened, how it happened and who did so. It has been clearly established that hijackers masqueraded their identities. It is known that some of they were drinking alcohol the night before which no staunch Muslim willing to die for his faith will. It is also known that due to attack hundreds of Muslims lost their lives

I know that you are only reporting what you have found elsewhere.

However, CAIR is NOT a mainstream organization.  It is a front for Islamists.  The leaders of this organization have been quoted as saying that they are working towards the Islamization of North America, along with the rest of the world.

Just as Jesse Jackson is not a reliable spokesman for the Civil Rights movement, CAIR is not a reliable source for civil rights statistics.  Their numbers have been shown, over and over, to be suspect, if not outright distorted.

:spock: So then who would you recommend for Islamic-American relations news and reviews? Although it may be exaggerated, I can tell you that Muslims and those who look like people from the Middle East do have a harder time now since Sept. 11th.

I understand your point of view.  I also understand the desire to avoid 'racial profiling.'  However, from a security point of view, we don't have a choice.

While not all Muslims are terrorists, or terrorist sympathizers, all terrorists for the last two decades have been Muslims.  Thus, in order to protect ourselves, we MUST watch Muslims in the US.  There isn't any easy way to identify the Islamists from the rest of them.

It is estimated that only 10% of Muslims identify with the Islamist movement.  That means that 100,000,000 people want to convert the world, starting with the US and Israel, to Islam - by force.
