Jan. 6 committee investigating Capitol attack votes to subpoena former President Donald Trump. The panel's decision ups the ante in the ongoing congressional investigation of the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol by a pro-Trump mob. The committee presented more evidence Thursday Trump knew he lost the election but pushed debunked fraud claims anyway and that authorities anticipated violence before the insurrection attempt. House Jan. 6 committee will recommend the Justice Department pursue criminal charges, but hasn't yet decided on names. Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., told reporters the committee has not narrowed down which individuals should be targeted for criminal charges, according to CNN. Recommendations could reach as high as Donald Trump and cover crimes beyond the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot, such as perjury or witness tampering. Source 7k.
