Rights vs Privelages

It is a natural human trait to react to something based on PERSONAL experience. However, if you will indulge me with an open mind. I have posted this quote in many places to many different backgrounds and people. What is noticeable is the reaction of some to it. For instance, in a veteran group I am a part of some soldiers took it one way praising the correctness of it, while one veteran took it to a whole other level.

Let me give you some perspective. I have posted elsewhere that I have 3 special needs children. They have rights, but their rights are not given the same weight as neurotypicals. Therefore, those who are not on the ASD are treated as though what they can get from the country is a privilege such as education, jobs, etc. This can be ONE perspective.

Let's take another perspective… something as simple as access to WATER is a basic human RIGHT and yet some people have tons of water to the point of wastage while others have none in weeks. To the ones that have none if you say it is their RIGHT to have water and yet others have plenty then it means that their 'rights' are not being treated as though it were a right but a privilege to have water. We cannot call something a RIGHT and yet only give access to those rights to a few.
