After just getting over Gustav, now everyone is worried about Ike. Did you know over 100 people have died in Haiti already!

Ike Hurricane

Wow, 100 people? I wonder if is because this Hurricane is really dangerous or is it that Haiti's living conditions are so poor that people don't have proper housing to use as protection.

I believe it is a little of both. Some housing is not to hurricane standards and the powerful cat 3 or better hurricanes can really pack a punch. The longer they stay in a area the worse it is because of the all the rain.

Ike Hurricane

The US is certainly taking a hammering, but not worst than what the Haitians have experienced. People are just dying in the streets and forced to drink dirty water to survive.

QUOTE (CNN)
People sheltering at ground level at Galveston Bay when Hurricane Ike hits face "certain death," the weather service warns.

Hurricane Ike

It is sad that the people have no way to get drinkable water. We know these storms are coming from a long way off yet year after year storm after storm.

Is there no way for these people to have a place set up to take haven in while the storms pass and the waters reside? Or does the government just not care.

Hurricane Ike

One of the amazing things about hurricane Ike is the share size of it. Right now it is going over Texas and from what I see on the weather map is about the same size as Texas itself! That leaves a really big area to do damage.
