1,500 endangered languages at high risk of being lost this century. A new study warns 1,500 endangered languages could no longer be spoken by the end of this century. Source 4n.

When one considers how much the advent of technology has caused the use of even the most commonly used languages to become abbreviated or at worst atrophied, this might not be surprising, however saddening.

I could be wrong, but I think that there are programs trying to bring some of those languages back. Something more accessible might be Duolingo. It's not great as far as learning grammar or language rules, but it's a good start. I know it has Scottish Gaelic, if that is something that interests anyone.
