Abuse Substance Autism

People with Autism may turn to substances either to act as a way to escape their emotional pain or to gain a higher state of emotional happiness. Substances may act as a way to numb the stimulus of other objects in the environment. People with Autism may turn to substances for comfort.

Helping people with Autism to regulate their emotions in a constructive manner helps them to better monitor themselves and understand the causes and effects to how they are feeling.
