Vashti Seacat Murder Case

What are your thoughts about the Vashti Seacat murder case in which the mother was killed by the husband, a cop, who then burned the house down? For me the biggest point that showed the attitude of the husband was his statement to the judge on the day of his sentencing. Instead of saying how sad he was that Vashti was gone he chose to use the time to chastise the same person that was about to sentence him, the judge.

The most telling thing is his statement to the judge before sentencing. He had no remorse for anything and unrepentant knowing he was at the mercy of the court.
