Carbon Free Fusion Energy

Scientists achieve major advance in fusion energy, a technology that could potentially provide clean, carbon-free power in years to come. Researchers at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory say they have been able to create more energy in the fusion process than they put into it, what's known as "Ignition." The hope is that in time, this process can be scaled up and done cheaply enough to create carbon-free power without the radioactive waste that occurs during nuclear fission. Source 9n.

If this can be made into a public use energy then it should bring down rates because cost for waste elimination will no longer be a factor.
