I intend no disrespect, why does pronouns and religion have to go hand and hand? I feel if any scenario where we could not change or modernize it should be personal beliefs on worship.

My main objection to this would be that while God probably does not have gender as we see it, God pretty consistently presents himself as a father in the Bible. There are a very small handful of metaphors like in Psalms where God may have motherly qualities, but only in the poetic literature. So it's odd, but not totally surprising that a church may start doing something like this.
