Man Faces 210 Years For Sexually Abusing Girls
I cannot even imagine what these little girls went through. This "man" drug them, beat them and rape them. The youngest was 9 years old.

| OXNARD -- An ex-marine, who worked as a teacher in Phnom Penh, faces 210 years in prison for engaging in sexual conduct with girls as young as nine while living in Cambodia. 53-year old Michael Joseph Pepe of Oxnard was convicted in May of having sex with the girls ages 9 to 12. During a sentencing hearing, one of his victims, who traveled 8,000 miles to attend the court proceeding, took the stand. A prosecutor offered her a wooden footstool to stand on so she could better see the judge, but the girl declined. The girl, 14, rocked back and forth, seeming to summon the courage to speak, and then, in a voice so faint it could barely be heard, she did. "I don't want any other children to be like us," she told U.S. District Judge Dale S. Fischer through a translator. "Please don't allow this to happen again." Pepe, a retired U.S. Marine captain, was working as a civilian teacher in Cambodia when he hired a prostitute to procure the children from their families in 2005 and 2006, according to testimony in the three-week trial. The victims, six of whom were flown to the United States to testify, said Pepe drugged, bound, beat and raped them in his compound in Phnom Penh, the Cambodian capital. In addition to the victims' testimony, prosecutors showed jurors restraints, sedatives and homemade child pornography seized by Cambodian National Police during a raid of Pepe's residence in 2006.... |

I am glad they gave him a stiff sentence. He deserves it. I hope the girls get the counseling and support they need. I hope they put him in prison with Bubba

You can't even begin to imagine the suffering that these girls endured.This whole case is just so tragically sad, aND IT SICKENS ME.
I'm glad his sentence was lengthy, it's the next best thing to a death penalty..I wish that our country held up the penalties as strictly.

Only 210years! Well I guess it is a good start. I would much rather see a more severe sentence. I would like to see him transferred back to Cambodia so that they can punish him in their fashion over there. If he is still alive afterwards let him sit in prison with Bubba and finish his short sentence.

Yeah but it will not happen as that would be considered abusive and inhumane. But I feel what he did to those girls was abusive and very inhumane. Kind of a eye for and eye in my book. I still would feel he is getting off better then the girls.

Yes I have often pondered if a reduction in these cases would be seen if things were a bit stiffer. I know with mental issue like this often the abuser never ponders the consequences.
