Daburto Introduction

I'll try to be informative but brief and succinct. My name is Dan; I'm 34, married, and currently reside in the Houston suburb of Cypress, TX. I am a fourth generation member of the LDS Church on my father's side, and I take great interest in my ancestors' conversion accounts, which serve as inspiration in my life.

I served in the Argentina Buenos Aires West Mission from 1994-1996, shortly after which I met my wife, whom I married in the Salt Lake Temple in August of 1996 (6 month engagement - long by LDS standards?).

Aside from my affinity for the gospel of Jesus Christ and the Church, I also am a loyal fan of heavy metal music (and when I say heavy, I mean it in the most brutal sense conceivable). These two subjects of my unwavering love unavoidably contribute to the fact that I am an unorthodox Mormon in the eyes of many, but I am pleased to say accepted and welcomed by the vast majority of those with whom I come into contact.

Our family moved into a new ward in March 2008 and I have recently been called as a teacher in the elders quorum, and discovered this virtual community in the course of preparing my first lesson.

I look forward to many edifying discussions.

I need to speak with more Argentines - I often find myself slipping into Mexican Spanish due to its prevalence here in Texas.

JB - my hair is my way of putting my affinity for heavy metal out where everyone can see. Just as I keep current pictures of my family on my desk at work to express my passion for my family, as well as the LDS pass-along cards I have at my desk in order to share my passion for my religion, I wear my hair long and have a few heavy metal trinkets to show my express my passion for this form of music.
