Conviction overturned for Brendan Dassey in 'Making a Murderer' case

Brendan Dassey, who was convicted along with his uncle, Steven Avery, in the murder of Teresa Halbach, has won a court order that could result in his getting a new trial or being freed from prison within 90 days. Dassey, who was 16 at the time of the 2005 murder, had argued that his constitutional rights were violated during the investigation. Ref. USAToday.

I will have to learn more about this case. The fact that a potentially dangers person is now free does not always make one feel safe in their area. I hope that this young man has learned something from his time behind bars and tries to be a good person now.

Federal appeals court rules Brendan Dassey, whose conviction in the 'Making a Murderer' case was overturned, must stay in prison pending state's appeal

A federal appeals court has ruled that Brendan Dassey, who was featured in the Netflix series "Making a Murderer," must remain behind bars even though his conviction has been overturned. Dassey was convicted in 2007 of raping and killing Teresa Halbach and sentenced to life in prison, but a federal judge in August overturned his conviction, saying investigators coerced him into confessing.
