Pres. Barack Obama's Next Move - Page 7

Interesting that this has been going on since the election, but is just now making the news.

QUOTE
The election of America's first black president has triggered more than 200 hate-related incidents, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center - a record in modern presidential elections. Moreover, the white nationalist movement, bemoaning an election that confirmed voters' comfort with a multiracial demography, expects Mr. Obama's election to be a potent recruiting tool - one that watchdog groups warn could give new impetus to a mostly defanged fringe element.

....

After sparking conflict and showdowns in the 1990s - think Ruby Ridge, Waco, the Oklahoma City bombing - white supremacist and nationalist groups began this century largely splintered and powerless. Though high immigration levels helped boost the number of hate groups from 602 in 2000 to 888 in 2007, key leaders of such groups had died, been imprisoned, or were otherwise marginalized.

But postelection, at least two white nationalist websites - Stormfront and the Council of Conservative Citizens - report their servers have crashed because of heavy traffic. The League of the South, a secessionist group, says Web hits jumped from 50,000 a month to 300,000 since Nov. 4, and its phones are ringing off the hook.

"The vitriol is flailing out shotgun-style," says Mr. Levin. "They recognize Obama as a tipping point, the perfect storm in the narrative of the hate world - the apocalypse that they've been moaning about has come true."

Supremacist propaganda is already on the upswing. In Oklahoma, fringe groups have distributed anti-Obama propaganda through newspapers and taped it to home mail boxes. Ugly incidents such as cross-burnings, assassination betting pools, and Obama effigies are also being reported from Maine to Alabama.

Rather off topic, but...
I'm curious why you don't see the government coming out for the hate crimes against churches that have been occurring all over the country since the election?

Pres. Barack Obama's Next Move History & Civil Business Politics

What happened to the "Change We Need!" platform that Obama ran with? Who is he appointing in his cabinet, in the most high places? Let's see....

Chief of Staff: Rahm Emmanuel -- Congressman from Chicago (D). Heavily involved with Bill Clinton's campaign and, after the win, initially Assistant to the President for Political Affairs and then Senior Advisor to the President for Policy and Strategy.

Secretary of State: Hillary Clinton -- Senator from New York (D). 'Nuff said.

Attorney General: Eric H. Holder Jr., a senior official in the Justice Department in the Clinton administration.

Director of the National Economic Council: Jacob Lew, who was Mr. Clinton's budget director.

Office and Management and Budget Director: Peter R. Orszag, previously served as Special Assistant to the President for Economic Policy, and as Senior Economist and Senior Adviser on the Council of Economic Advisers during the Clinton administration.

QUOTE
While Mr. Obama has yet to name any of his cabinet secretaries, his early choices for White House staff positions and the names currently at the top of the list for staff and cabinet jobs suggest that his administration could be heavily stocked with Democrats who served under Mr. Clinton.

Awwww...why don't you be like most of the press and say that even though these are the same people that were there 7 years ago (and therefore linked to today's problems), that they are not GWB or anyone associated to GWB, so therefore...they are change. One commentator on CNN today was saying how Obama is uniting the Democrats that were splintered and bitter enemies (Hillary's potential appointment) and equating it to Lincoln's cabinet of enemies. They were also saying how we had to wait for all the appointments because there might be change in later appointments. YEAH...HUD will see evolutionary CHANGE!

If this is so majestic and unique...they better look at what Bush did in his first term in office for positions. He got nearly every former rival within the party (nomination) and potential future rival within the party into his cabinet (Powell, Ashcroft, Ridge, Thompson). Call this unique, but it is really a wonderful move that has been done before to put the highest potential rivals for the second term of office under the same umbrella of the first term. Basically, if things go badly for Obama...they go badly for his cabinet. Hillary included. This basically just guarantees that she cannot run against him 4 years from now! Don't get me wrong, it is not a bad deal for Hillary. If she went back to the senate, then there is little there for her, as she is not quite a Sr. Senator and would have little chance of grabbing a committee chairmanship.

They will point to keeping Robert Gates as Secretary of Defense and say SEE...we are keeping a republican...but Gates isnt even registered as a republican. He just did his job well, which is a good thing and actually good that it can be recognized without the party blinders on. R. Lugar will end up somewhere in the cabinet as the real token republican and ultra vision of change! YIPPEE!

So much CHANGE, my head is spinning!

CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN! CHANGE WE NEED!

Yeah...the name plates on the doors will all change after 1/20/2009. Did we need it? Who knows...but that was going to happen regardless of who got elected...because it is anything but Bush. Perhaps that is the change the public bought into?

Yes change is what people bought into and I believe that nothing is going to change by the looks of things. I have the feeling that the next two years is going to be interesting. IF not enough is done I have a feeling that there is going to be a landslide republican win for the seats that will be up for grabs in the house and senate taking the democrats majority in both houses away.

Oh, there is going to be change. Change in a socialist direction. I am sure there will be some kind of fabricated situation that warrants more laws to be passed for our "protection".

I am sure that the democrats may actually try to get it so that we more resemble a socialist republic instead of a democratic republic. I am sure that before this can happen that many guns will have to be taken away so the people can not revolt against the government.
