Reading everyone's explanation of how they chose their names was really interesting.
I chose mine, AlaskanLDS, because this forum was a combination of people from all over the world so Alaska(n) is where I live and LDS states what religion I am, (I noticed there have been a few others with that in theirs).
How I got my user name doesn't seem all that interesting compared to some I have read here. I used to have another one that apparently someone else also uses sometimes. I was registering on a site several years back and "my" name was already taken. Well the site computer started making suggestions of possible user names for me. It tossed out Alskann or something like that and I figured why not? I live in Alaska and my name is Ann so it works.
My name is foreshortened first initial (J) and surname (Patt). I have a number of names I use on the net, different ones for different sites due to fitting the site's theme, but I try to use a more personal and proper name on sites that obviously encourage or require them, and this site, while it has some 'out there' names, I know some are real names, at least first, so I felt this was definitely a 'proper' site.
My username is one I have been using for the past 10+ years. Its actually my cat's name. Jack Champers is a champaign coloured tabby! - Although, these days he is only really known as Jack. I loved reading how everyone got theirs. Very smart, some of them.
I've had this username all over the web for about ten years or so, I think. It's easy to remember! I just put two words together and it stuck.
