Producers are pushing the envelope more and more every day. With Mitt Romney running for president you can expect to see more scenes like this in the future as the public tries to 'unmask' Mormonism.
Did anyone ever boycott AOL Time Warner / HBO because of their controversial decision to show one of their characters preforming an endowment ceremony? Here is the link to the churches official statementSource
The Church is actually saying that if they announce a boycott then more people will watch it. I never watched the show before, don't really intend to start, but I think for me personally it will be important to see the clip for the purpose of rebuttal when the anti questions come.
I had the chance to see a clip with the actual part and I was shocked at how much details have been shown, absolutely unnecessary because personally I did not see the connection with the story line but more a matter of wanting to show what happens inside.
I completely agree, I have been fallowing the show ([kind of] an attempt to know thy enemy) and it is obvious that the writers try to work in themes to highlight there disagreements with the church. Another example is when Bill Paxton's characters daughter was pregnant and went to meet an LDS couple for adoption, well it turned out that the man was gay, upon leaving the daughter commented that it was wrong for a church to council gay men to get married. This was completely unnecessary for the storyline and an obvious shot at the LDS church especially for a show that was only going to focus on polygamists
