A senior administration official tells the Associated Press that President Obama has directed the Justice Department to provide congressional intelligence committees access to classified information providing the legal rationale for drone strikes against al-Qaeda-linked American citizens. The official, who was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly, spoke to the AP on the condition of anonymity. Ref. USAToday

Counterterrorism drone strikes have killed four Americans since 2009, Attorney General Eric Holder acknowledged in a letter to Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy.
The letter said that one of the four was American-born Muslim cleric Anwar al-Awlaki and that the other three "Were not specifically targeted by the United States." Ref. CNN
