Uranium Mining: Spokane Indian Reservation
Radiation Exposure from 50 Years of Uranium Mining Continues to Affect Spokane Indian Reservation
We speak with Twa-le Abrahamson of the Spokane Indian Reservation, where the only uranium mining in Washington State took place. She helped found the SHAWL (Sovereignty, Health, Air, Water, and Land) Society, which addresses the impact of radiation exposure caused by over fifty years of uranium mining in the area. Ref. There is no excuse for the government mining on land that was given to natives. They had other land but the government took it away and forced them onto reservations. That still wasn't enough for the government. Coal, mercury, and uranium have been mined on land where people are supposed to live, fish, hunt, and get their water supply. Mining leaves deposits in the soil, water, and air. This is not safe. It has been proven to cause harmful health conditions. These sites need to be cleaned as well as they can be, and no more mining should take place in these areas.

I think the natives are taking this way to personal. The government is just treating them like all other when it come to oil or uranium ... Like dirt pay dirt that is.
It is terrible the aftermath of such operations but I really doubt any significant action will be taken. Token yes significant no.
