Why Saudi Arabia would rather pay a ransom to Trump than support its own people. "How in God's name can you shower so much money on the Americans when you are so reluctant to do so on your own people?" Ref. Source 5a.

Remember the source. The MEE is staffed full of activist journalists. Had President Obama inked this deal they'd be singing it's praises, or at least not so against it. Saudi Arabia is on a buying spree because Iran terrifies them, and rightfully so. A balanced account might have taken that more into account.

Yeah, and President Trump makes three. That said, the evidence doesn't point to direct support. Rather, its support sent unknowingly.

Yes, this is true to a degree. The old king made a deal with the devil to help him maintain his power and now the monarchy is stuck or they'll face a civil war if they try to undo what they have put in place. They are between a rock and a hard place.

Saudi Arabia USA - Page 5

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman kicked off his two-week visit to the US on Monday.

Why the long trip? One analyst told Al Jazeera it’s got a lot to do with Saudi’s “image problem”
When they met on Tuesday, Trump held up charts showing Saudi purchases of US military equipment, while bin Salman said the foundations of the US-Saudi relationship were “really huge and deep”
Meanwhile, US legislators rejected a motion to end involvement in the war in Yemen
Rights groups decried the result of the vote: “Every house has its own sad story in Yemen now”
On Thursday, the US Department of State said it had approved a possible arms sale to Saudi worth more than $1bn
Is bin Salman really the reformer he’s portraying to be? On UpFront, a self-exiled Saudi journalist told Mehdi Hasan bin Salman would never open the kingdom to democracy. Source 3f.

Trump signals US won't punish Saudi crown prince over Khashoggi killing. President Donald Trump signaled Tuesday that he will not take strong action against Saudi Arabia or its Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for the death and dismemberment of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

The White House has been struggling to square a widespread sense that the crown prince directed the killing with its desire for Saudi support for its foreign policy priorities and a need to manage close relationships between bin Salman and the Trump administration.

In an exclamation-mark laden statement subtitled "America First!" Trump said that "Our intelligence agencies continue to assess all information, but it could very well be that the Crown Prince had knowledge of this tragic event -- maybe he did and maybe he didn't!" Ref. CNN.
