Obama Admin's Targeting of Pro-Lifers Shows Pro-Abortion Bias

Two July 2011 incidents have converged to reveal the pro-abortion bias of Eric Holder's Department of Justice.

First, alleging that he had stood on a sidewalk near a metro Washington Planned Parenthood facility, forcing those entering to walk around him, Holder's DOJ sued an eighty-year old Catholic pro-life counselor. DOJ stakes the claim that standing still on a sidewalk so that others must go around you violates the federal Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act.

Second, that same sidewalk counselor that had just been sued by DOJ carried on his pro-life speech activities on July 14. As he approached a woman walking toward the Planned Parenthood, the elderly gentleman offered pro-life literature to her. The woman immediately threatened, I don't want to hear anything from you, or I"ll pepper spray you. Despite the warning, the sidewalk counselor continued his offer of help. To his complete surprise, the woman began spraying him in the face with pepper spray.

These two instances, to this point, do not evidence bias. Not until you discover which target Holder's DOJ gave a sweetheart deal to, you would be right to doubt any alleged bias. You see, when the pepper spray assault incident came up for trial this week, the United States rolled over and played dead. Ms. Gregg was offered a plea arrangement that will lead to dismissal of the criminal charges for her violent attack. Ref. Source 6

Obama Defends Planned Parenthood Funding at Pro-Abortion Dinner

President Barack Obama and his administration have close relationships with leading pro-abortion organizations, so it is no surprise that he defended taxpayer funding of the Planned Parenthood abortion business during a speech at a pro-abortion group's dinner banquet Wednesday night.

Obama addressed more than 2,000 activists at the National Women's Law Center Annual Awards Dinner, where he bashed congressional Republicans for their efforts to deny federal funding to the Planned Parenthood abortion business, which does more abortions than any other organization in the United States:

"Instead of figuring out how to put more Americans back to work, they"ve been trying to figure out how to take away preventive care that is covered under the Affordable Care Act.

Instead of making life easier for women in this country, they want to let insurance companies go back to charging higher prices just because you"re a woman.

Instead of working to boost our economy, they"re out there spending time trying to defund Planned Parenthood and prevent millions of women from getting basic health care that they desperately need - pap smears and breast exams." Ref. Source 9

Probe: Obama Admin Broke Law to Push Abortion in Kenya

Kenya An investigation by the Government Accountability Office (GAO), into the Obama Administration's use of $18 million in taxpayer funds to provide funding for a group pushing legalized abortion in Kenya finds the administration broke the law.

The investigation by the Government Accountability Office (GAO), the investigative arm of Congress, shows at least one Obama grantee openly pushed to expand abortion in Kenya despite a long-standing, annually renewed law that prohibits U.S. Tax dollars from being used to lobby for or against abortion in other countries (known as the Siljander Amendment).

The GAO report also reveals that a key Obama official stonewalled investigators and refused to cooperate with the GAO in its investigation of the activities initiated by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the State Department during the 2010 constitutional referendum in Kenya.

"The Obama Administration basically hired surrogates to do its dirty work of abortion promotion in Kenya," said Congressman Chris Smith, a New Jersey Republican who is the chairman of the House Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health and Human Rights.

"U.S. Policy on international constitutional reform is, by law, supposed to be abortion-neutral" Smith said. "This new report shows that at a minimum the Obama Administration ignored the prohibition with the end result being a new Kenyan constitution that vastly expands access to abortion in Kenya, courtesy of the U.S. Taxpayer." Ref. NARAL: Obama Will Win in 2012 if He Promotes Abortion More

President Barack Obama has already crafted a record that easily makes him the most pro-abortion president in the nation's history, but the abortion activist group NARAL says Obama will have a better chance to win re-election if he would promote abortion more.

The pro-abortion group released the results of a new poll yesterday that it claims shows abortion "provides an opening for President Obama to create a sharp contrast with anti-choice Republicans." The poll claims to measure attitudes among so-called "defectors" - women voters who strongly supported Obama in 2008 but are not as inclined to support him this time around because of the failing economy. NARAL suggest promoting abortion more will get them on board with the re-election campaign.

"This time around, we know that choice [abortion] can provide a way to cut through all of the other data points and all of the other message points that voters are hearing during a tough campaign," NARAL Political Director Elizabeth Shipp said.

NARAL says 40 percent of the women they surveyed said they could never vote for a presidential candidate who is pro-life, even though pro-life presidential candidates have historically had an advantage because of their pro-life positions. The NARAL survey, conducted by Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research, a Democratic pollster, claims women trust Obama more on abortion than any other issue - with them giving Obama a 59-point edge on abortion compared to a 46 point advantage on national security and a 40-point lead on the economy over Republicans. Hearing: Obama Admin Discriminated Against Catholics on Abortion

A House committee held a hearing today on the decision by the Obama administration to deny to the nation's Catholic bishops a grant for a program helping sex trafficking victims because it would not refer for abortions.

The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee held the hearing on the administration's decision not to renew funding for United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) program to assist human trafficking victims.

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops had previously received a five-year $19 million grant to help victims of sex trafficking during the administration of pro-life President George W. Bush. Sensitive to how women are exploited in the sex industry, the Catholic bishops prohibit any subcontractors from using the funds to pay for or promote abortions. Instead, the Catholic bishops provide comprehensive case management services to survivors including medical and mental health services.

While the Obama administration extended the contract briefly in March, the bishops were recently notified that it would not be renewed. Instead, Obama officials awarded the grant to three other groups (Tapestri of Atlanta, Heartland Human Care Services of Chicago and the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants of Washington) - even though the bishops have helped more than 2,700 victims with the funding.

During the hearing, committee chairman Rep. Darrell Issa, a California Republican, said the decision violated the Obama administration's "pledge to be the most transparent in history." Ref. Source 4

Abortion Backers Blast Obama Administration in Rare Divide

Nancy Keenan of NARAL has worked closely with pro-abortion President Barack Obama to advance abortion, but today's decision by the Obama administration not to sell the morning after pill to teen girls without a prescription makes this the first time they have been at odds.

Keenan blasted the Obama administration in comments after the decision saying she disagreed with the Secretary of Health and Human Services" decision to overrule a recommendation from the Food and Drug Administration.

"Experts like the American Academy of Pediatrics long ago recommended that this emergency contraceptive medication be available for women of all ages," Keenan said. "We had every confidence that this Bush-era policy would come to an end. The Obama administration has broken a key promise to the American people that it would base its decisions on sound science and what's in the best interest of women's health. In short, this is a failure to deliver change." Ref. Source 8

Women Are Political Pawns for Obama on The Issue of Abortion

President Obama claims that he has women's best interests at heart and that he is attuned to the plights and struggles every woman faces. He is so dedicated to the female population in the United States that he has launched a new campaign strategy for 2012, urging women to help re-elect him for a second term.

Obama's campaign specifically targets women because the campaign states women are among the minority voting groups Obama is hoping to reinvigorate. "Women for Obama," led by Michelle Obama, is the initiative that focuses on encouraging women to stand up for the pro-abortion president because he promises to stand up for them. "Standing up" for women in Obama's eyes means providing them with free, abortion-inducing birth control and unmitigated access to the largest abortion provider in the world - Planned Parenthood - all on the taxpayers" dime.

Obama has enlisted the help of Heather Colburn, former EMILY's List and Planned Parenthood employee, as his National Women's Vote Director to push his fundraising effort and promote his "pro-female" position. This is in line with the numerous abortion proponents Obama has appointed to his cabinet, committees, and the Supreme Court in the past three years. Many have been directors, board members, and major supporters of abortion organizations like NARAL, EMILY's List, and Planned Parenthood. Ref. Source 4

Obama Bashed For Blocking Planned Parenthood De-Funding

The Obama administration is coming under more fire from pro-life advocates for blocking Texas" plan to run a women's health initiative without funding the Planned Parenthood abortion business.

On Monday, the Obama Administration refused to renew funding for Texas" Women's Health Program (WHP) because of new state rules that disqualify abortion business affiliates from participation. The WHP encompasses Medicaid family planning services for low income women. The program started through authorizing legislation in 2005 and was renewed in the recent 82nd Legislative Session with new pro-life rules.

The Texas legislature voted to cut Planned Parenthood and about $64 million in taxpayer funding from the program and direct the funding instead of women's health initiatives that do not include abortion. But the Obama administration turned down a request from Texas to run its Title X family planning program that way.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) sent a letter to the Texas Health and Human Services Commission rejecting the law by turning down the state's request to run their own family planning program. This would have allowed Texas, not HHS, to determine where the funding is allocated. Ref. Source 1
