JB - I missed your post from before. Yes, I'm 100% with my son now, although he is now working in a city an hour from here and has been promoted... so that means he is as busy as I am! We rarely have time to get together, maybe once every two or three months. But we do at least have a relationship, and he does call me. It's wonderful to have a home of our own! We do still have neighbor noises, but not right up against our walls... just landscapers and dogs and kids and such, and one neighbor has really loud parties on weekends sometimes. But there is no cigarette smoke coming in the windows 24/7, no one "just dropping in" at all hours. It's been very nice. I'm sleeping better than I have in ages.
Soli & KNtoran - thank you for your thoughts and prayers. We didn't have her very long, but she was already in our hearts. It was a terribly sad day. She did not chase cars, she was afraid of them, but she couldn't stand not being able to go and do everything she wanted and she managed - after two months of trying! - to find a way to get out and explore. She had such energy! Let me tell you, our house is so quiet now. I hadn't realized just how she filled it up -- and she was only four pounds! We're doing okay, I think especially because we still have her companion with us. We are just about loving him too much...! Today, we are going to the Home Depot to get some paving stones to mark her garden spot, and some little flowers to plant there. It's all part of life, and the risk we take in caring for these little creatures is that their lives are often so short.
