So sorry to read of your last few adventures. I gre up e had no locks that worked and I miss that feeling of safety because every one around you cares and knows each other.

I think the worse I have ever had happen is some one slept in my car one night. They took refuse from a major storm. I can not imagine the invasion you must have felt.

KNtoran your offer is very kind and I am thinking if no one else will ask then I will. Please do put up a short thread on Home security, we all may benefit and be safer.

Thank you all for your kind words. I'm still a little "spooked" by the whole thing, and my daughter refuses to be alone in any room in the house. However, I have purchased window and door locks, a very heavy duty lock for the front gate (the hasp is so thick I had to buy a bigger chain), and I'm looking into motion detector lights. I can't afford the alarm system just now, but I'm doing what I can.

On the one hand, it's scary to be home; on the other hand, I hate to leave it empty all day. But, I have to work so it's just a day at a time thing to get over the being scared part.

Thanks, KNtoran - I have read the posts in your thread about security, and they are definitely helpful. I really appreciate your efforts in that topic.

Things here have been very quiet, though we have heard the helicopters at night sometimes in the neighborhood. I guess I didn't realize how much activity there is here of the criminal variety!

I was wondering that myself. I know you do your "homework" with regards of finding out about the neighborhood, etc. Sometimes when houses are a bit too cheap is for a reason, no? Did you think about getting a big dog?
