The Culture Of Trini Vice
As I was reading this article, I was not only shaking my head and thinking how low is the self esteem of some Trinidadians along with their stupidity but that this kind of mentality is projected towards other areas such as food prices or demanding proper services. This island-country is literally sunk! How can people say they enjoy living here is beyond me. Oh Trinis, some of you are being such fools and with such a basic mentality where your belly must be full and your vices satisfied, no wonder you live a life of crime, attack little children, are promiscuous, and you give a darn about respecting other people's rights.

I mean I will complain about the increase but it's either I support it or I drop it," he said. At Ryan's Recreation Club on Prince Street, Nehru Rampersad said he too would not be affected by the increase. "I is a working man and I does need my little drink. I not going and stop because of that," said Rampersad. But he also said that he saw the decision to increase the prices as being unfair. "That's too much. They raising it too much and too fast. What are we with our habits to do?" he asked... |

I don't think its right to put all Trinis in the same boat. Some people love being here simply because its home. Maybe because you're not from here its hard for you to adjust. The vices here are ingrained as part of the culture, I don't think that will ever change, but doesn't mean its not a nice place to live.

I have lived here for long years, I am not a newbie to Trinidad. I don't understand how you can admit the vices are part of the culture and yet say it does not mean is not a nice place to live. Some Trinis take the word vice to a completely different level.

Ruff I don't see what Americans are doing has to do with anything about T&T. I don't get why some choose to always reference America, a huge place with hundreds of millions of people and make a comparison with two small islands in the Caribbean. Shame! I live in the UK where I work a dental hygienist and 9 out of 10 patients drink or smoke and when I ask them to give up their habits ...they give me "that look" and say it is not the right time or they need to have a habit! So its not just a Trini thing! Just leave people to do what they want if you don't like it leave!

Do you always answer so ignorantly? Your other Post is similar to your reply here and does not continue Discussion but encourages an abrupt end - child-like actually. A relevant issue is being Discussed here and I do not see what your patients in the UK have to do with the point mentioned in the first Post which is that substance abuse is so prevalent in Trini culture that locals are willing to pay anything to fill their psychological need. If we wanted to Discuss what is going on in the USA or UK that title of the Thread would be aptly named.

Ok so what you going to do about it? Talking on here is not going to stop Trini people drinking less or smoking less ...get out there and maybe open clinics to help with substance abuse...if they already have them there then go volunteer your services in stead of yapping on here. Its called being PRODUCTIVE!
