Is it true that parents who give their children Ritalin are just looking for an easy way out of their responsibility?

I know some parents that used to give their son ritalin because he was ADHD or ADD, I forget which one, but afterawhile the guy went like from hyper to zombie. He just wasn't the same, I think Ritalin is very dangerous. Its probably a little bit of hyper than being like the walking dead.

What concerns me about Ritalin (and many other similar medications) is that we do not know the long lasting effect that will have in the brain of the child. That's what doctors say and it's worrisome. This is one of the reasons we stopped using drugs to deal with our son's challenges. Having said that, I do not judge those parents who do.
