Thomaslee Introduction - Page 53

Thomas, if you are falling asleep throughout the day, unless you truly do have narcolepsy, you are not actually sleeping deeply at night. Apnea actually keeps you at a base level of awake through the night, an prevents your body from reaching full REM sleep, which is essential for rest. If this continues, you won't just fall asleep during slow times of the day, you'll actually start hallucinating. You need to consult a doctor and possibly get something that knocks you out fully, during nights you can have 9-10 hours of sleep. Otherwise your health is at risk. You also should consider a CPAP machine.

Introduction Thomaslee

The issue is finding time to do so, having the money for the testing, and paying for the CPAP machine. That and for whichever doctor I meet up with, as I'd also need to pay him or her before they even work with me.

I know it can be less expensive, and now something one can do, to have one tested at home but even then I may find myself needing additional testing just for the doctor's to make sure. Yet since my old health insurance through my previous job is likely no good because of losing said job… I'd likely have to pay completely out of pocket.

That makes it very hard to get ahead of this, then. Without benefits, or a government that has universal healthcare, you will have hard time getting a job that gives benefits. Classical Catch 22 situation.

Thomaslee, I will advise for you to go check your local Bishop and explain the situation. Maybe you can get some support or they may know of a doctor willing to help you out.

Introduction Thomaslee

I know with my sleep apnea I was getting to the hallucination stage before I got my CPAP machine. The difference was night and day. Of course, I only had to pay for the machine as all the testing and doctor visits were covered by Medicare here in Canada. It's definitely not something to let go if you can find some way to get some assistance with paying for things it will definitely be worth it.
