The girl flashes you a smile as she turns away and heads to help another customer. She does appear to be a bit busy but not overly busy.
You both hear a group of men at a table talking about a girl who has gone missing. This is the third disappearance this month and no one is doing anything to help the families find out why. The guards do not really care much about some peasant kids that go missing during the night.
The men turn to you Zork and say, "We have told the town guard and the governor of the province that we have seen some of our kids disappear in the night. We do not know who or what took them just that they were gone. We have not seen any signs of a struggle or that a wild animal happened to attack them so we are at a loss. We do know that this is not like them to just wonder off. Tom here, he indicates the guy next to him lost his eldest daughter of 17 years just a day ago."
The guys say, "We were told by the guard that until we had proof of what happened to our children that they could not do anything because the kids could have just ran away". Tom speaks up, "My daughter was last seen going up to bed in our farm house. She may have had to use the chamber pot room which is outside during the night as in the morning she was gone. That was yesterday morning."
The first guy introduces himself, "I am George and this is Tom, Henry and Adam. We are all farmers over the north ridge. I can lead you out to the farms so you can take a look around and see if you can be of any help. We can not pay you in coins for your help but we can offer you a place to sleep.
Tom speaks up, "The morning that we noticed that she was gone her favorite necklace that she wears all the time was on her bedside table where she always puts it before bed. The necklace never leaves her sight for long as it was a gift from her grandmother."
The men all thank you for listening to them as they lead you out of the tavern and turn into a alleyway. They lead you through the alley way to the next street where they all turn to the right. Up ahead you see a cart with a couple lads watching it. As the men approach the lads relax and smile until they see the two of you. They stand up taller and reach for clubs. George calms them with a quick word telling them that you both are here to help find the kids. George climbs up in the drivers seat and the rest pile into the cart. They ask you if you wish to ride with them or do you have your own transportation?
The lads do put their clubs down and join you all in the cart for the ride north. When asked one of the boys will look at the other and shake his head. The other boys looks at him and then for a while before blurting out. It was Goblins I tell you stinky little green goblins that want to take our lands from us. I saw them I did but no one believes me since no one found any tracks.
George looks back at the new comer and welcomes her to the cart. HE then addresses the boy. " Calvin we have been over this before there are no goblins in the civilized area. Everyone knows that. Plus how could they move about and leave no trace? Plus why did they not take you if you saw them as you say you did?" George looks at the group, "I am sorry Calvin told you that far fetched story but he is torn about the fact that his younger sister is among the missing. Do not listen to him as he knows nothing about what really happened I believe."
