Looking up you see the hawk is once again flying normal mostly gliding on thermals as it makes wide lazy circles. The wagon takes a bit of time to get it back on the road and heading back in the northerly direction. The Ranger is scouting ahead with Zork not far behind him. Albrecht heads towards Zork to get back into proper order. After a couple more hours the hawk returns to Krusten to be fed. The ranger stops to take a break next to a small stream. Nothing is seen or heard since the orcs. "This is a good place to take a mid day break."
Out of Character: Unless in combat or everyone has posted I like to wait a little bit to give everyone a chance to post.
In Character: After stopping for a mid day meal everyone heads back to moving north. You can see ahead the hills are getting a bit steeper and the mountains are getting closer. The ranger says you should be in the foot hills proper in about three days. You can also see that the closer to the mountains the more forest there are. You have about five days of sparse trees here and there. Sometime a few groves. As the sun starts going down you can see storm clouds moving in and the wind begins to pick up. Looks like it is going to be a wet night. The ranger has not seen any signs of the bandits and the hawk is heading back to Krusten ahead of the storm. The ranger tells Zork, "The storm may wipe out recent traces of the bandits unless it is a hard packed trail or other sign."
I will need to know how you are securing the tree branches to the wagon. Plus anything else people are doing to prepare. The horses are not hard to get hobbled together where they are not going anywhere. The wagon driver is able to find a spot that is among a small grove of trees. It is about 3/4 of the way up a hill.
You make preparations for a stormy night and it is just a little past dark when the skies open up and the rain pours down. The wind picks up more and things are being blown around. The tent and branches you had put up for cover barely hold on in the storm. The storm finally abates and the winds die down. The rain gets much lighter and soon even that is done. You are all glad that you were on high ground due to the amount of rain. Nothing else happens during the night and you all wake to a clear but chilly day. You can smell the nice fresh clean air and see that all traces of trails have been whipped clean. Ahead you can see a tree that has fallen blocking the road north. You can work to move the tree or find a way south and around the grove with the wagon.
The tree is a rather large one and it will take the four draft horses to move the tree out of the way. It will take a couple hours to unhitch the horses then hitch them to the tree and pull it out of the way before unhitched them from the tree and rehitch them back to the wagon. Zork and the Ranger find nothing in the way ahead that can not be moved easily to the side. The hawk is flying in a lazy circle as you head farther north.
You do not see anything coming towards you while the tree is removed from the road. It is close to mid day by the time you are back on the road and headed north. The rest of the day passes quickly and quietly. You do not see any signs of tracks but plenty of storm damage. About a mile north you can see where the worse of the storm had gone through with trees snapped off like twigs. You cross one small stream that is more like a small river. The ranger tells you the water in it is not safe to drink as you cross and keep heading north. You can still see the mountains and the foothills but they do not seem to be getting closer very fast. The day stays on the cool side.
Yes there is a bridge. It is a well constructed bridge to cross this river. It is made of stone and looks to be made by dwarfs. The bridge has a slight rise to it to the center then slopes back down the other side. The road way across it will allow two wagons to pass while crossing. It will support the wagon. The river is close to the two sides of the bridge after all it was built to cross a stream not a fast flowing river. That is why the water is unsafe to drink from all the stuff in it from the storm that went through last night.
