Faerydae is able to get Albrecht to drink a potion due to him being conscious enough to drink. The hired ranger how ever is a different story.
Zork tries to get a reaction out of the unconscious half orc but he does not respond to anything. After a bout a hour he starts to stir.
By the time you cut all the heads off the attackers and take them over by the wagon, Gather all the equipment after stripping them of arms and armor and get it all over to the wagon. Get the wagon all hooked up and ready to travel it is day break. The sole survivor watches all you do in silence. You can tell that he is not looking too well seeing you beheading all of his comrades. He does not say anything to you. The wagon driver is also looking a bit ill at ease. You get the hired ranger loaded into the wagon and soon you are about ready to head back south and west to the last camp place. There was only one horse the leader of these men was riding. You find it about half way down the hill. It is hurt from the fire and is slow to be pulled back up the hill where it was injured. Where do you put the ten heads and all the armor and weapons? What are you going to do with the prisoner?
You stack the arms and armor into the war wagon along with the hired ranger. You place the severed heads on the wagon too. The driver will start moving the wagon back towards the south and west as he prepares to head back to the town.
Between Faerydae and Albrecht you are able to calm the horse down and Faerydae is able to treat its wounds and bandage them. The horse is more tranquil now. Krusten sends her hawk out to scout ahead of the group.
The day goes by quickly and quietly as you make your way to the next camp site. It is late afternoon when you arrive at the camp.
The hawk does not see anything as you stop and make camp. The wagon driver tells you that he is tired and needs a good night of sleep. He unhitches the horses and gets them to the side for feed and water to rest for the night. During your watches you do not see or hear anything and the night passes quietly. The next day dawns bright with a mostly clear sky. It looks like some storm clouds are starting to build in the far west.
The next day you break camp and everyone was able to get a good night of rest.
Avan you spell choices are now in effect.
The horse is feeling a lot better. During the afternoon as you talk to it, it can not tell you much. It was kept in a pen with four other horses. They were never mistreated and had plenty of food to eat. The fire was horrible but the kind lady had helped me. You get nothing else of use from the horse.
You will have to rest one more time before you get to the main road. Then it will be two more rests before you get back to town. You do not see any other signs of bandits on the trip back. A couple days of rain do hamper the trip back but not by much. The river you cross is still high with rain runoff.
It is the morning of the fifth day since the battle. You can see the town gates ahead of you. The hired ranger is doing better (I assumed you kept using healing spells on him) allowing him to walk more each day to regain his strength and mobility.
Many in town are taken back that you chopped the heads off of people. Even when you tell them they were bandits they feel you desecrated their bodies instead of just burning them or burning the bodies.
The town officals have no idea about the number of home of the bandits. They have no maps that you can use of that area. They tell you that never have head of a fortress in the area and it is outside their jurisdiction so they can not help you with any of the towns guards or patrols. Since you have not made sure that the bandit leader lives or not they will not give you any reward for a job that has not been proven complete. The hired Ranger tells you he has done the job he was hired to do and bids you farewell for now. He heads for a tavern on the south side of the town.
Out of Character: Everyone receives 1,800 exp for the bandits you have killed. None of the item you have taken from the bandits are magical. The local shops will buy them from you at 60% value that they sale for in the book. If you level up please make roll for hit points and post character sheet in the character thread. Any other questions let me know.
You get the feeling that those who are better off financially are the ones who take the most offense to the beheadings. The more common and poor people think it is great some bandits met their fates. Even though there are some of the lower income people who watch you warily as they move off.
Zork you can find a mage shop easy enough as it is not far off the main square. There is a young lady at the counter asking if she can be of some help.
Avan as you ask around you will find that the mountains where you ran into the stronghold is in a disputed part of the world between the country to the North called Nethra and this country to the south called Wodrack. The local earl is outside of town to the south and east in his fortified castle if you wish you can go and see if he will accept you in audience.
Faerydae you spend a few hours attoning for the violence you saw and the are able to cleanse you soul. You head to the main market place where there is a shop that sales weapons..
Krusten you find you way to the old man that gifted you your bow. He looks at you thoughtfully and says, "That is something I have not thought about mush. Give me a month and I will see if I can figure something out." He smiles gleefully and after wishing you well heads back into his back room.
Avan is able to finally track down the Ranger. As they drink together the Ranger will tell him some of the secrets to tracking. Most of it is easy it just takes a lot of practice to understand and learn it. Working with a experienced tracker is what is needed to better understand the signs and how to interrupt them.
