About midday you enter a area of canyons. The scout tells you that the trail heads deeper into the canyons and that walls of the canyons would provide great hiding spots and possible ambush spots for the gnolls or anything else that lives in the desert.

The scout will point out that he has never been in the canyons but the Gnolls tracks lead down into the canyons. The chances of them having a ambush site within the canyons as well as them having their main encampment in the canyons is very good. HE would find a place that is defensible and gives one the advantage if attacked in the canyon country if it was him doing this. The trick would be to find out where they are if they are in here without being seen or attacked.

You all move into the canyon territory and slowly make you way along as you check out the possible ambush sites to make sure that you are not attacked. The more you move into the canyon territoy the more it looks like that if there is any sort of place to make an ambush it is much farther ahead where you can see the canyons start to split off and go in different directions. The scout will come back and tell you at the first south split the tracks all lead down each of the three paths. He feel that they do this as a way to confuse anyone trying to track them.

Out of Character: the scouts name is Stephen.

Yes you can still get up high to go along the tops somewhat but they are more broken creating saddles and there are more than one pathway as you can see the walls are more terraced and there are broken parts that have created natural caves in some of the cliff faces. You can see that the further you go the more numerous the caves appear to be. Mr Fluffles and Karma are both able to smell Gnolls the smell is all around them. Both recent and older scents.

As you move deeper int othe canyons you start to see some of the caves look to have been dug out some and made more livable but currently no living things are in them. Ahead you can see bigger caves in various levels of the canyon and you can see breaks in the canyon walls making this a virtual maze of pathways through the territory. The scout has not seen anything yet but you all have a feeling that you are being watched.

Checking the caves they are getting deeper and more looked used at one point the farther you venture in. The fresher tracks are ahead of you and then move to the right through a gap.

You can find a cave that is up a little bit and a little off the beaten path. There is still gnoll scents here but they are a bit older.
