Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 Play By Post Game - Page 13

The first day you pass farms. Most are slowly being worked back to operation as you see a lone man or a man and a boy working the soil. They see you passing by and will will wave at you before turning back to their labor. You also see some burnt out farms. The skeletons of the homes and barns giving you a stark reminder of the dangers you are facing.

The first day and night past quickly. About mid day of the second day you pass by the farm where you had the fight. The farm house has been burnt since you left it. You see a crude totem erected where the barn was.

As you leave the farms behind the forest gets closer to the roadway. The road is about 20 feet wide from tree line to tree line. You can see that the road is not straight as it curves this way and that to find the easiest path through the forest to the next town. Both days and nights pass without problems.

It is about mid morning as you top a rise in the land. Ahead you see what appears to be a farmer with a wagon blocking the road. It appears that his wagon broke a wheel and partly tipped. The farmer is attempting to brace his wagon upright so he can attempt to fix the wheel.

The caravan leader calls the wagons to a stop.

What are your actions?

As you ride slower to the farmer you can see him trembling. He is a human make about 5' 9" tall and very thin. As he turns to you you can see the bruises on his face. He has been recently beaten and not gently. He is having a lot of trouble trying to pick up the branch that he is trying to use to get his wagon upright.

The caravan leader will tell you they do not want to go towards the wagon until you and your people verify that it is not a ambush. They do have supplies and equipment to assist the farmer in getting his wagon back into working order.

As you approach the wagon and the farmer he quickly drops to the ground and crawls under his wagon. As he is crawling under the wagon you hear a Orcish war cry from both sides of the road. Orcs start to come out from both sides of the trees heading for the caravan.

Oliron you being in the woods are confronted by three orcs. I need initiative rolls from the party and especially Oliron.

Namdar back pedals with his horse bellowing AMBUSH! before attacking the nearest Orcs. HE is awarded with a Orc dying at the end of his blade. Two orcs strike at him but they both miss.

Beast holds his ground in the back of the caravan and is rewarded with a few Orcs to fight himself. The first one falls at his blade as three approach him more cautiously.

Asher begins a lively tune on his instrument to cause encouragement to the party. Asher can not play his instrument and ready a crossbow at the same time.

Pundit stands his ground close to the farmer. Since no action from him

Vilikin stands in the middle of the caravan looking astonished. Since no action from him.

The orcs are all now withing Melee range.

Round three starts with a war horn in the woods and the orc breaking off their attack and running towards the horn. You will see a mounted Orc holding a war horn flanked by two large orcs. The orcs are wearing metal armor. The two flanking are holding bows at the ready but not shooting.

Ryorst hits and kills the orc by him.

Beast hits and kills the orc by him.

Pundit misses.

Ashar hits and kills the orc by him.

Oliron since I did not get a fumble roll I assume you fumbled your weapon and dropped it. You miss.

Namdar hits and kills the orc by you.

Vilikin hits and kills the orc by him.

The orcs scurry past the three larger orcs as they head deeper into the woods. The mounted Orc nods his head to the party and says well met. Next time you may not be so lucky. The two flanking him back deeper into the woods as the mounted orc blows his war horn again before turning his horse and entering the woods. They are leaving in a north and west direction. What do you wish to do now?

You do not know the number of orcs that attacked as no one counted them.

The drivers do not own any bows or crossbows that is why they hired guards.

Yes in fights we can go three or four rounds at a time unless something major happens.

He will fall in behind the main wagons. HE picks up his spilled vegetables and puts them back in the wagon. He is very glad to be healed.

Pundit is able to heal everyone with the wand. Make sure you mark off one charge per 8 points of healing or fraction that takes to totally heal a person.

The orcs all have hide armor and falchions. They had 3 gold 10 silver and 14 copper each.

Once everyone is ready the caravan driver looks to you and then calls for the wagons to move out. The wagons once again start their journey north to Nevestral.
