What are your thoughts about Tony Alamo Christian Ministries New Jerusalem? It seems Tonay Alamo broke down when his wife died. He began taking young girls to be his wives. He used John Kolbek as a bodyguard / enforcer who beat members who did not obey Tony Alamo.

Tony Alamo is a very sick man. It is either he could not wait for his wife to die to carry out his depraved actions or he was merely a demon in waiting. November 13, 2009 was the day when Tony Alamo was sentenced to 175 years in prison, however John Kolbek is still on the run.

An update on this case. A judge ordered $500,000 for each of Tony Alamo's victims.
QUOTE TEXARKANA, Arkansas -- Five young women who testified last year that evangelist Tony Alamo took them as "wives" and sexually assaulted them when they were minors are entitled to $500,000 each from his multi-million-dollar ministry, a federal judge ruled Wednesday.
U.S. District Judge Harry F. Barnes ordered restitution after a government witness said the women suffered physical and mental pain at the hands of Alamo, who is serving a 175-year prison sentence for taking the women when they were underage across state lines for sex.
In his ruling, Barnes noted that each of the victims were assaulted by someone they regarded as a pastor and prophet.
"The defendant has truly, truly damaged these five young girls and I don't think amount of money this court can order can replace their loss," Barnes said.
Prosecutors said they were confident Alamo, 75, could afford the $2.5 million judgment even though most of his assets are held in his followers' names. He will not have to pay the restitution until his appeals are exhausted.
"The challenge is going to be uncovering them and finding what names they're placed under," Assistant U.S. Attorney Kyra Jenner said....

Comments: Tony Alamo is a good example of how people can think they are following something holy when in fact its the unholy, well that's by religious standards cause for me religion these days is just a business under a different banner. Instead of selling you food or accessories they are selling you the idea that you are a better person by following them and even better if you give money to their cause.

Tony Alamo was a nutcase freak long before his wife died, she just helped him run the cult then. I live in the area his original cult was founded. His 'church' members lived on his compound and made rhinestone encrusted clothing back in the seventies and eighties. The the wife died and he hijacked his wifes corpse from the funeral home and put it on display in a glass top coffin on the compound. The 'church' fell apart then for awhile and he evaded the law on his compound for years. Finally they got him on tax evasion for a time and rescued and finally buried his wifes corpse. And then he apparently managed to sucker a bunch more people, reorganized and started 'marrying' young girls.
