Remake of Battlestar Galactica

I was just reading my usual email newsletter that I get from Scifi.com and it appears that they are making a remake of the original series of Battlestar Galactica.  I remember the original series, but I don't know if the new miniseries will as good.  The estimated release of the new miniseries is December 7, 2003.  My mom also was talking about the miniseries earlier and says that she would tape for me to check it out.  I hope it doesn't bite.  lol

I also found that they made a video game as well, to be released on Xbox and Playstation2.  Once I can find the game, I will check it out and post a review on it as well.

But on to my question.  Does anyone remember Battlestar Galactica show from the 80's?  Did you like the show?  Do you think that the new miniseries will hold up to the original?  Or will it just bite?

Yes I remember it. It used to be one of my favorites as a kid, but I really cannot see myself watching it again.

I remember the original but the last time I watched an episode in SciFi I thought "I used to watch this?"  

However, the miniseries looks very different and very complex.  It has some quality actors and I think there will be more depth in the plot.  Now, if I can just get past the Starbuck character being female.  I think that will radically change the dynamics from the original series.

I can't believe that I missed that part of the write up on the new miniseries.  I guess, I will have to watch it and see if it will be ok.  I agree with you Sophia, I don't know if I can get past the part of Starbuck being played by a female.  Starbuck was one of my fav characters in the original.  ;)

they did run the series a little while ago as well as the time where they found earth and aslo the cylons has found it too.
usually when they re-run a series they ruin the remembrance of the old one for us older older aged people.

I agree, wayned.  Sometimes, film makers take something that was great and turn it into something less likeable.  I am eager to check this out, but I am ready to be disappointed with it too.
