I would disagree on superman but batman is a very deep character and plot. I think Iron missed out on the big screen big time as the whole character is far more complex then what was even touched on the movie. I was also disappointed on spider man though it was OK. I think they missed out on the darker side of Parker.
What about Wolverine or Jean Grey?
Superman in Smallville is not that deep, but the older greying Superman is very wise and is often shown pondering or regretting past mistakes. No doubt he is the leader of all super heroes and he is also a DC character. Darker side of Parker? He has a darkside?
Ok maybe it is just me but often he fights his vengeful side he also is a true rebel. Often ti is these two natures that enable the true to be seen. It also meant he thread were others would not think to go. It is the ability to work in a Grey zone that made it work. Even in present issues he fights the battle of what is right and what is best for all.
I think mostly it come down to what you connect with in a character in any book or movie. This is what causes us to be fans.
This is always a hard question for me to answer. I've always loved Batman, from when I was a little kid. He's probably my favourite superhero, deep, dark and complex. He also has a cast of great villians.
However, more generally, I think Marvel has alot more interesting characters than DC. That's my opinion. The X-Men, Deadpool, to a lesser extent the Fantastic Four, Spiderman, Captain America. I love the X-Men. My favourite animated superhero show.
Like a lot of others here, I like Batman but overall I prefer Marvel comics. When I was younger, Marvel always had the more believable characters. Now, there are so many good writers on both sides that it's harder to choose one company. When you factor in video games, cartoons and movies, each side has had really strong showings and it's just so hard to say that there is one that is clearly better, it's really a matter of personal preference.
