The Weather Man

Definitely goes in my pile of "worst waste of precious moments of my life, ever". This just was so unremarkably mediocre and BORING that you couldn't come close to enjoying it for its badness, like you couldn't do a Mystery Science Theater treatment of it, any more than you could paint dry. It wasn't drama, it wasn't comedy, it wasn't anything else - it was the most in-between-the-genres I've ever seen, not fitting into any of them, as it would then have to pick a theme and actually go by its rules. Just wholly uninteresting on all levels - I'm surprised I even remember it.

The Weather Man is a black comedy. If you dont appreciate the genre, you will definitely hate this movie as it would seem to drag forever and ever and ever...like most black comedies do. I wouldnt recommed the film to anyone unless I really knew their taste in movies, but I also wouldnt say that it sucked my will to live either. If you watch the movie and see David's dealing with the realization that his life hasnt exactly gone as he might have wanted it to and comes to accept what he sees as his future with few satirical moments along the way, then you will appreciate the movie. I must admit that the director and actor creating a character that no one in the movie cares about but yet expects you to is asking quite a bit from the audience, when most likely, many viewers would just want to chuck a shake at the screen as well.

I dont have the hate for the movie jpatt does, but dont love it either. Watch it if you have nothing else to do and you arent looking for a movie to lift your spirits. Dont watch it if you think there will be loads of laughs or action...they arent there! Blah...that about sums it up...blah.

The Weather Man Sports & Fashion Music Movies

I enjoyed this movie, as I like the darker comedy. To me this movie was about a man who was ready to fight back but wasn't sure how. I enjoyed his cumbersome journey threw mature adult hood. Not being entirely secure with any one thing and realizing it. Knowing he had shortcomings he could never repair and was basically a looser target for bullies.

I liked watching him struggle between his different morales not sure wich one should take precedence. Then eventually coming to a sort of zen place.

Man Weather The

Are you all sure we're all talking about the same movie? Weatherman, the one with Nicholas Cage? The one I watched with five people, of ages from 18 to 50, all of whom began looking at each other about 45 minutes in, in a "I don't get it, it isn't entertaining, it's not a comedy like the trailers show - should we just turn it off now?" way. I thought Lord of War was bad, but Cage proved that no, if he put his mind and non-discriminating willingness to work for anybody to it, he could come up with something that made even it stand out as an interesting film.

I don't have hate for the movie, it just wasn't remarkable enough to generate hate, I just have superlatively mediocre distaste for it. I've seen some black comedies, and while they're not among my favorite genres, I DO understand most of them and can enjoy the style and humor of most, but this ranks right up there with Gosford Park.
