It has been a rough year for Carlsbad card and collectibles company Upper Deck. Last month, the privately held firm settled a yearlong bitter lawsuit with Konami Digital Entertainment over Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, which are based on a hugely popular Japanese animation franchise that includes shows and games.
