What is your strategy for confronting the animal Bear, Brown in Dungeons & Dragons?

Brown Bear
Pretty hard to hit and very tough, in HP and damage. They only travel in solitary or in pairs, so thats nice. Try and charm it if you can or change its mood. Some say curling up in a ball and playing dead helps, I think, unless thats black bears. Other than that I would say to maybe climb a tree and try to attack it while it comes up to you. That or stand your ground and cross your fingers. Hopefully your high enough level to maintain.
